Understanding Direct and Indirect Speech in English
Direct and indirect speech allow us to report what someone else has said in two different ways. Mastering these forms can help us convey messages more accurately in both conversation and writing. 1. What is Direct Speech? Direct speech quotes someone’s exact words, usually enclosed in quotation marks (“…”). In direct speech, the speaker’s original words remain unchanged.
